Welcome

 

The HES PTA would like to welcome you to this new school year!

Come join the HES PTA – we meet every month on the second Tuesday at 6:30 pm in the library.

Free Childcare provided!

 

 

Membership Dues

Membership is not required to attend meetings or volunteer – but is needed to vote on items at the meetings.  Membership is $5.00 and $4.75 of that is forwarded for membership in the National PTA and Maine PTA.

 

PROGRAMS & EVENTS SPONSORED LAST YEAR

  • Meadow farms  Fundraiser
  • Don’t Bully ME -  school presentation on Bullying ($500.00)
  • Parent Awareness Night on Bullying and Internet safety
  • Red Ribbon Week
  • Rock & Mineral Night
  • Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers – Puppet Show ($850.00)
  • Supported Grades 1-4 to see “The Velveteen Rabbit” at Penobscot Theater, plus provided the book for each classroom ($1,672.00)
  • Books purchased  for the  library from Scholastic Books ($400)
  • Funded items requested on Teachers’ Needs Board ($25.00/month)
  • Team Beach Body Exercise Classes with Beth Albert
  • Holiday Teacher/Staff Breakfast
  • Student Holiday Crafting Event ($200)
  • Project Curtain Call  (HES portion $7,500)
  • Teacher’s Requests such as: - keyboard piano ($700), table, and drill for the Maint. Dept.($350),  WII accessories and laminating film($100)
  • After school projector ($550)
  • Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week - A luncheon, daily prizes as well as daily drawings for all teachers and staff
  • Provided classroom books for Community Reading Day ($200.)
  • Summer Reading Program ($200)
  • 2 After School Movie Events
  • Ice Cream Social and Art Show
  • 100th Day of School Celebration
  • 4th Annual “HES has Talent” Show”
  • Fourth Grade Dance Partnership ($1,500)
  • Author visit with Chris Van Dusen  ($850)
  • Kindergarten Rainbow Celebration T-Shirts
  • Field Day activities & materials
  • Welcome packets for incoming kindergarten

 

As you can see, it was a busy year!  All of these activities were done with volunteer help from parents, teachers, staff, and community members.  As you look over this list, we hope you will consider joining HES PTA or helping with events.  We have a lot of things for the New Year – but we can only do them with funding and help!

 

Collections

We collect the following:

  • Box Tops for Education
  • Campbell Labels for Education
  • Hannaford Bucks - Check out Hannaford Helps Schools
  • Empty Ink Cartridges & cell phones

 

*A Collection box is in the school foyer

 

Take charge of Education – use your RED card at Target, designate HES as a school of your choice and Target will give the school 1% - it all adds up – and it’s free!  Check out Target.com/redcard or Target.com/tcoe for more information.
