WELCOME TO THE 2010 – 2011 SCHOOL YEAR AT HERMON ELEMENTARY WELCOME The HES PTA would like to welcome you to this new school year! Goals The main goal of the HES PTA is to make our school and our student’s educational experience the best it can be! Also, we want to support families and teachers and provide extra curricular learning opportunities for the students. Get Involved! Together we can do more! There are multiple studies which show students do better when parents and people who care get involved. The HES PTA is a group of volunteers dedicated to the students and school. YOU ARE WELCOME to join us – We meet every month on the second Tuesday at 6:30pm in the library. FREE child care provided. *First Meeting* September 14th Upcoming Events
$ Fall Fundraiser $ In order to be able to fund extra curricular activities and learning opportunities, for our children, fundraising is a necessity. In the past, we have spent $10-12,000.00/year. We have one MAJOR fundraiser in the fall. This year we will be working with Meadow Farms. Our goal is to raise over $12,000.00. More information will be sent home with your child concerning this. Fundraising Dates: Sept. 21st – Oct. 8th Here is a look at what we did last year . . . PROGRAMS AND EVENTS SPONSORED Summer Sizzler & games Fundraiser Kick off Assembly Slim Good Body Performance 2 Movie events Ice Cream Social and Art Show Holiday Cookies and Storyteller 3rd Annual “H.E.S. Has Talent” Show Author visit with Robert Pottle Community Reading Day - books provided for each classroom Kindergarten Celebration - shirts for each Kindergarten Student Helped fund 4th grade dance program with CHCS Field Day activities and materials Purchased books for the library and classrooms Funded items requested on Teacher’s Needs Board ($25.00/month) Funded Teacher’s Requests Holiday Teacher/Staff Breakfast & Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week Family Dance 2 Scrap Booking Events H.E.S. Cookbook Welcome packets for incoming kindergarten Students Playground Equipment Hermon Reads - Summer Reading Program As you can see it was a busy year! All of these activities were done with volunteer help from parents, teachers, staff, students and community members. As you look over this list, we hope you will consider joining HES PTA or helping with events. We have a lot of things planned for the new year – but can only do them with funding and help! We Collect the Following: Box Tops for Education Campbell Labels for Education Hannaford Bucks Empty Capri Sun Drink Packages Empty ink cartridges Cell phones Collection box is in the school lobby. PTA membership is not required of volunteers but it helps to keep you updated on current events and it gives you a voice in what we do.
